The President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, Yasser bin Hassan Al-Mashal, and businessman Abdullah bin Saleh Al Othaim, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Abdullah Saleh Al Othaim and Sons Charity Foundation, along with Captain Majed Abdullah, President of the Charitable Association of Friends of Football Players, signed an agreement to establish a charitable endowment for former football players.
This took place during the ceremony held by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation in Riyadh on Tuesday evening, under the slogan "We Will Not Forget You," with the contribution and support of the Abdullah Saleh Al Othaim and Sons Charity Foundation, in the presence of the national team stars who contributed to qualifying for the World Cup since 1994, in addition to the Green Falcons who won the Asian Cup since 1984.
Al Othaim Charity Foundation provided a sum of 10 million riyals to establish a sustainable charitable investment endowment, in addition to another 10 million riyals to be paid at a rate of one million riyals annually for ten years, to support the programs of the Charitable Association of Friends of Football Players, which serves the needs of players who represented the Kingdom in international competitions.
Yasser Al-Mashal affirmed that this step is part of his efforts to provide all support to former football players, appreciating their contributions to Saudi football, with the contribution of Abdullah Saleh Al Othaim and Sons Charity Foundation, which is always at the forefront of such charitable projects.
Abdullah bin Saleh Al Othaim, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Abdullah Saleh Al Othaim and Sons Charity Foundation, praised the efforts of His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sports, and the efforts of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, for the attention given to the sports sector in the Kingdom, and the remarkable results achieved thanks to the support and care of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and his Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Prime Minister, may Allah protect them.
Al Othaim expressed his happiness with all the achievements made by the sons of the nation in all fields. Therefore, the joy was doubled when the Saudi national football team achieved a victory over the Argentine national team, the world champion, which was a proud win for all of us.
Therefore, our initiative came in the form of donating 10 million riyals as an incentive to the national team players on the occasion of this well-deserved historic victory. Then we received a blessed proposal from the Saudi Arabian Football Federation to use this amount to establish a sustainable investment endowment to support the programs of the Charitable Association of Friends of Football Players, which serves the needs of players who represented the Kingdom in international competitions and achieved accomplishments that were a source of pride and celebration and will remain immortal in the history of Saudi sports. Therefore, we welcomed this proposal, which will maximize benefits, expand the circle of beneficiaries, and make it continuous, God willing. We added another 10 million riyals to it, to be paid at a rate of one million riyals annually for ten years.
Al Othaim expressed his wishes that God would grant success to those in charge of the Charitable Association of Friends of Football Players to continue their blessed efforts in serving former players and their families, and that this sustainable investment endowment provided by Abdullah Saleh Al Othaim and Sons Charity Foundation would support the goals and programs of the association.
Al Othaim expressed his gratitude to the Saudi Arabian Football Federation for the excellent organization of the ceremony, expressing his desire for further cooperation with the federation in charitable and social work, contributing to serving the sports community in particular.
Captain Majed Abdullah expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Saudi Arabian Football Federation and Abdullah Saleh Al Othaim and Sons Charity Foundation for the initiative to establish a sustainable investment endowment. He said: The Charitable Association of Friends of Football Players, which is the first of its kind in the Middle East, has achieved one of its most important goals today; to make the football stars who represented their clubs and national team proud, expressing thanks to them for all they have done throughout their football careers.
